Over the past decade, digital dentistry has emerged as a major disruptor. Digital innovation has changed almost everything in dentistry – from intraoral scanning, to in-office restoration and prosthetic fabrication, to dental laboratory workflow, to implant dentistry.

This first Digital Innovation Symposium from the MUSC James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine aims to:
1. Explain the concept and advantages of same-day dentistry, including the integration of CAD/CAM systems, digital impressions, and in-office milling techniques.
2. Understand the principles and benefits of intraoral scanning, including the acquisition of accurate digital impressions and their integration into digital workflows.
3. Comprehend the treatment planning process for implant guided surgery, utilizing digital software and surgical guides for precise and predictable implant placement.
4. Recognize the potential of 3D printing technologies in dentistry, including the fabrication of surgical guides, models, and custom dental prostheses.
5. Provide an understanding of how to leverage digital dentistry to achieve more predictable outcomes in the clinic, considering factors such as improved accuracy, efficiency, and patient satisfaction.

The Digital Innovation Symposium is geared toward practicing dentists and resident dentists.

This workshop covers the latest cutting-edge technologies and software applications, featuring ZimVie RealGUIDE TM, 3Shape Implant Studio, Formlabs Form 3B+, UNIZ NBEE3 3D printers, the RealGUIDE Z3D Guided Surgery Kit, and SimtoCare augmented reality and virtual reality system.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of the program, participants should be able to:

1. Master Computer-Aided Implant Surgical Planning by understanding computer-aided implant surgical planning principles and practices using ZimVie REALGUIDE and 3Shape Implant Studio and creating precise, patient-specific treatment plans for dental implant procedures.

2. Excel in 3D Printing Technology by gaining proficiency in utilizing Formlabs Form 3B+ and UNIZ NBEE3 3D printers for dental applications, as well as digital model preparation, printing workflows, and post-processing techniques for producing surgical guides, prosthetic components, and models.

3. Implement Implant Guided Surgery Protocols by successfully applying the RealGUIDE Z3D Guided Surgery Kit for implant surgeries, integrating surgical planning and 3D printing insights; developing hands-on skills for guided surgery kit assembly, surgical guide placement, and executing implant procedures with precision; and be better equipped to provide high-quality, technology-driven implant dentistry while earning continuing education credits to advance their professional development.
