Prospective Students

Ready to take the next step in your dental journey? At the James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine, we’re preparing the next generation of leaders and providers to innovate the future of oral health.
Pre-dental students can explore below to learn about the four-year Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree program and application process. Future oral health researchers can find information on the Dental Scientist Training Program – an uncommon blend of academics and patient care offered at only a handful of institutions – which culminates in a dual D.M.D/Ph.D. degree.

Removable prosthodontics refers to the diagnosis, treatment planning and fabrication of complete and partial removable dentures.
Implant prosthodontics includes treatment planning and restoration of dental implants for the replacement of a tooth. A dental implant is a manufactured post that is designed to create a stable foundation for natural-looking tooth restoration. Placed directly into the jawbone, a dental implant is the closest thing to a natural tooth.
Restorative dentistry is the study, diagnosis and integrated management of diseases of the teeth and their supporting structures and the rehabilitation of the dentition to functional and esthetic requirements. Restorative dentistry encompasses restorations of types on natural teeth to include composites, amalgams, endodontic build-ups, and crowns.
