COHR Membership

COHR Membership Guidelines

COHR membership will be made on the basis of the outstanding quality and relevance of the research program of the prospective faculty member. There are two specific requirements for COHR membership:

  • Evidence of oral health, craniofacial, or oral pathobiology-related research or clinical interests
  • Active participation in Center Programs, including the monthly COHR Enrichment Meetings, the bi-weekly Oral Health Sciences Seminar Series, the bi-weekly Oral Health Sciences Journal Club, and the annual James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine Scholars Day

Membership Categories

COHR memberships will be classified by the following two ranks:

  • Member: Faculty at MUSC or other institutions
  • Associated Member: Non-faculty personnel, including postdoctoral fellows, technicians, pre-doctoral students, residents, and staff 

Application Process

The following documents are required for the initial application:

  • A CV or NIH style biosketch
  • A brief summary of current and/or future oral health-related research/clinical activities, including a description of how you plan to use the COHR facilities and potential collaborations with other COHR members
  • A description of how you will specifically participate in COHR Programs 

Continuation of Membership

COHR membership will be reviewed every three years and continuation of membership will be determined by:

  • Past evidence of participation in COHR programmatic activities
  • Submission of an updated NIH biosketch that demonstrates continued interest in oral health, craniofacial, or oral pathobiology-related research or clinical interests
  • Receipt of annually-updated COHR-related publications and grant support information 

Privileges of Membership

  • Use of facility and equipment in the COHR
  • Participation in all aspects of the COHR Programs, including the monthly COHR Enrichment meetings, the bi-weekly Oral Health Sciences Seminar Series, the bi-weekly Oral Health Sciences Journal Club, and the annual James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine Scholars Day
