This certificate program is for dental hygienists and dental assistants who work in rural or underserved communities want to become community dental health coordinators.

This course is worth 25 hours of continuing education (CE) credits for dental hygienists and up to 31 hours of CE credits for dental assistants.

Program Description

Using pre-bent hand files is a skill that's becoming rare. This program teaches why and how to use them, even with enhanced irrigation. It covers the “instrumentation playbook" for complex canals, length determination, and EAL use for accurate patency/obturation lengths. Participants will also learn about myofascial pain, including referral cases, how to identify, and treat these patients.

Registration is complimentary for the in-person or virtual program. Limited attendance for the in-person event.

Dr. Matthew Kinstler is originally from Glendale, Arizona. He graduated from Midwestern University School of Dental Medicine in 2016 and was the recipient of a Health Professions Scholarship through the United States Army. He practiced as a general dentist for 5 years before pursuing advanced education in endodontics in the US Army. Dr. Kinstler completed his endodontic training in 2023 at Fort Bragg Endodontics Residency under the guidance of Dr. Steve Delgado, where he later became the endodontic mentor at a 2-year AEGD. He was then selected to become the assistant program director of the Fort Bragg Endodontic Residency. Dr. Kinstler will serve in this role until 2026, then will take over as the Director.

Learning Objectives

After the program, participants should be able to:

• Understand the techniques used to work up difficult canals and cases more predictably.
• Treatment plan and conservatively treat calcified anterior teeth.
• Comprehend myofascial pain with referral and how to use the Rohde MFP protocol.
