Training Programs

ROADTRIP

The purpose of our project, Rural Oral Health Advancement and Delivery through Interprofessionalism (ROADTRIP) training program (D85HP28493), is to transform interprofessional education at the Medical University of South Carolina so that more dental and primary care graduates have the prerequisite clinical and interprofessional competencies, business acumen, and willingness for rural safety net oral health practice.

Our goals are to:

Goal 1: Facilitate a quality improvement culture for oral health interprofessionalism at MUSC
Goal 2: Improve access to care through safety net dental practice certificate program at the James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine
Goal 3:  Improve access for safety net populations through oral health interprofessional training portfolio in the primary care programs.
Goal 4: Establish a cadre of experiential learning opportunities that codify oral health interprofessional and safety net oral health competencies as well as intention for safety net practice.

SNDCP

The SNDCP (Safetynet Dental Certificate Program) is a student-informed learning priority that we developed to elevate dental leadership in the area of safetynet dental practice education and research.  We foresee this 18-credit hour course program to improve efficacy in integrated care skills to address unmet dental and oral-related medical conditions for rural, safety net communities. The certificate program includes a mentorship component through the Safety Net Dental Research Club.
