Nitrous Oxide Monitoring

Course Overview

This program is designed to provide participants with the knowledge necessary to prepare for and complete the South Carolina State Board Nitrous Oxide Monitoring Examination. Participants will learn basic physiology and anatomy with the use of nitrous oxide analgesia. Indications and contraindications for the use of nitrous oxide analgesia, including safety measures, will be discussed. Through simulation exercises, participants will have an opportunity to demonstrate proficiency in the administration of nitrous oxide analgesia within a dental office setting.

Course Learning Objectives

  1. Understand basic physiology and anatomy with the use of nitrous oxide analgesia.
  2. Review indications and contraindications for its use and safety measures.
  3. Demonstrate proficiency in administration and use within a dental setting with simulation exercises.
  4. Be prepared to complete the State Board Nitrous Oxide Monitoring Examination.
