Faculty and staff from MUSC’s James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine's Department of Population Oral Health participated in the 12th Annual Back to School Bash on August 22 at Exchange Park in Ladson, South Carolina. Hosted by the Taking Back Our Village Advisory Council, the free community event brought together local organizations, families, and community members for a day focused on supporting students as they prepared to return to school.
During the event, the Department of Population Oral Health distributed school supplies and oral health care items to attendees, helping equip children and families with resources that promote both academic success and healthy habits. Community members also enjoyed games, prizes, food, vendors, and a variety of family-friendly activities throughout the day.
Participation in events such as the Back to School Bash reflects the College of Dental Medicine's ongoing commitment to community engagement and improving oral health awareness beyond the clinical setting. By connecting directly with families and providing educational resources, the department continues to support its mission of promoting health and wellness across South Carolina communities.
A special thank you goes to the dedicated Department of Population Oral Health team members who represented MUSC’s John B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine with enthusiasm, professionalism, and a commitment to service. Their efforts helped make the event a meaningful experience for local families and showcased the college's dedication to community outreach and public health.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and energy to help make this year's Back to School Bash a success.
