The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine has announced a new executive leadership appointment, advancing the college’s mission in education, research, and community health.
Sumit Yadav, BDS, MDS, MBA, Ph.D. named endowed chair of the Department of Advanced Specialty Sciences and associate dean for research
Dr. Sumit Yadav, a professor, joined MUSC on January 22, 2026, as the endowed chair of the Department of Advanced Specialty Sciences and associate dean for research. Dr. Yadav comes from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry, where he held multiple leadership roles, including department chair and interim associate dean of research. Dean Huja praised Dr. Yadav’s arrival, noting his “extensive leadership experience in academic dentistry, clinical excellence, and research innovation.”
The Department of Advanced Specialty Sciences includes oral and maxillofacial surgery, digital dentistry, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, and periodontics academics, research, and innovation.
About Dr. Sumit Yadav
An internationally recognized clinician scientist, Dr. Yadav has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed publications, written a textbook on temporary anchorage devices, and received significant funding from the National Institutes of Health/National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research and other major organizations. His honors include the 2024 UNMC Distinguished Scientist Award. He remains committed to mentoring students, residents, and junior faculty and advancing interdisciplinary specialty care.
